BOARD OF CENSORS
Chairperson: Robert Bruce Bergmann, M.D.
The Board of Censors shall perform the duties directed by the Bylaws. They meet prior to each regular meeting of the Society for routine matters including the consideration of applications for membership. The Board also deals with charges of unprofessional conduct preferred against a member of the Society.
BUDGET
Chairperson: Robert D'esposito, M.D.
The duties of this committee are to study the anticipated income of the Society and to estimate the cost of the anticipated program. It shall prepare a budget for submission to the Executive Committee of the Society at its November meeting.
BYLAWS
Chairperson: Robin Scarlata, M.D.
The committee observes procedures and progress of the Society with special regard to the bylaws, and is prepared to recommend modification, deletions, or additions whenever the indications for such a change would benefit the Society as a whole.
COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA
Chairperson: Michael Brisman, M.D.
This committee is charged with oversight of the various publication of the Society such as NACMED NEWS and the NCMS BULLETIN. It also oversees all other communications vehicles utilized by the Society including HEALTHLINE, and the NCMS web page.
ENTERTAINMENT
Chairperson: Robert Bruce Bergmann, M.D.
The Entertainment Committee is charged with oversight of the Medallion Ball, held each spring to honor the current President of the Society.
MEMBERSHIP INSURANCE / BENEFITS
Chairperson: Ellen Braunstein, M.D.
This committee considers member insurance needs and institutes programs to meet those needs. It also evaluates membership benefit programs and recommends to the Executive Committee the acceptance of products and services as membership benefit programs.
PEER REVIEW
Chairperson: Daniel Nicoll, M.D.
As a new member we would ask you to become an active member in our Peer Review Committee . We have approximately two hundred members in all different specialties. The Nassau County Peer Review Committee has developed a program of direct intervention with HCFA intermediaries in cases of payment disputes for treatment of Medicare patients. Disputes with HMO's and other carriers are also reviewed and intervention on behalf of physicians is routinely offered. During its existence the Committee has had an excellent success of cases adjudicated in favor of physicians. The Committee has also established direct links with congressional offices in cases of concern over HCFA / IPRO regulations and their interpretations. This committee is an outstanding opportunity for new physicians in their community to make contact with colleagues and to work with them. PREVENTIVE MEDICINE / PUBLIC HEALTH
Chairperson: David Annunziato, M.D.
This committee is charged with investigating questions related to local public health; to cooperate with the official and voluntary health agencies of the county and to foster the cooperation of the medical profession in the public health program of the county.
WELFARE FUND
Chairperson: Vincent Geraci, M.D.
The committee shall administer a welfare fund within the Society to be expended to aid and assist indigent physicians who are, or ever were, members of the Society and who are, or ever were, residents of Nassau County, or may be used for members of their immediate families in dire need.
WORKER'S COMPENSATION
Chairperson: Robert Cooper, M.D.
This committee executes the responsibilities and duties according to the laws of New York State having to do with the Worker's Compensation Law and the Volunteer Fireman's Benefits Law.
YOUNG PHYSICIAN'S COMMITTEE
Chairperson: Open
This committee is charged with identifying and addressing the needs, common problems, issues and /or interests of young physicians within the organization; to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among young physicians; to participate in the activities of the NCMS; and to provide input into NCMS policy.
